Heh! Love "hieroglyphic moon"!
It's all relative isn't it? We all read different things in what we see.

I'd love to know what sparked the idea behind this... it's very cool.

I guess it might not technically be a haiku. But basically it is descriptive. That cricket is driving me crazy. I always say, be obscure and people will think you are deep ;) But I was wondering what life is like for a stairwell cricket, who is it calling to?

Very, very trixy, Emily. I have this little picture in mind now of this cricket standing in the stairwell doorway serenading his hieroglyphic moon and wondering why no one replies

This reminds me of the cricket that used to chirp in our furnace room. There must have been more than one - otherwise he lived forever. What a fascinating poem to come out of your stairwell cricket - "be obscure and people will think you are deep ;)"
Works for me!
